History

Dignity, Equity and Practical Reform

1982 – We first started our work
1985 – Recognized by the AGDA
1995 – Grow to over 100 volunteers
2010 – Became part of Women’s Rights
2015 – Became a global volunteer
The Australia Hygiene Alliance was established to move the national conversation from episodic charity to structured reform.
We operate on three core principles:

Dignity
Access to hygiene is fundamental to participation in society.

Equity
Policy must address the disproportionate impact on women, children, First
Nations communities and low income households.

Evidence
Interventions should be informed by research, cost analysis and measurable outcomes.

Hygiene poverty is preventable. The economic cost of inaction exceeds the investment required for reform.
